Chinook Floor Replacement

Chinooks that are 2020 and newer (along with all other HexShell boats) have a floating floor/ floor covers. The floor cover is a fabric envelope that is not attached to the hull. The floor and cover are held in the boat by the overlapping side tubes positioned directly above it. We updated the Chinook floors to this design because it helps prevent twist, and it makes cleaning & drying the boat much easier. To replace the floor of this model Chinook, please start a warranty claim with our customer service team.

Previous model Chinooks (2019 and earlier) had an integrated pocket for the floor bladder. You could remove the bladder, but the floor cover was attached to the hull.

So if you have an older version of a Chinook that needs a new bladder, what can be done to fix the boat? While it was not possible to match the valve position of the old bladder on the new bladders, it is possible to use a new floor bladder combined with a new floor cover. The new floor can float above the old cover pocket. Although not necessary, it is also possible to trim out the old floor pocket, leaving 1-2cm (0.5” – 0.75”) margin. This leaves the PVC tarpaulin floor exposed for easy cleaning & drying.

  • Hi megan! Would you be able to elaborate on this a little more? I have an older model Chinook XP Tandem XL that I would really like to use again.

"it is possible to use a new floor bladder combined with a new floor cover. The new floor can float above the old cover pocket."

    Thanks!

  • Hi Megan, I have the same problem with several leaks in the floor bladder of a Chinook XP Tandem XL 2019 without real damages. Where can I buy a replacement floor bladder in Europe? Regards, Frank
